Standing Still -What stands in a way of pursuing your goals?

Article I wrote for a newsletter:

Sometimes things cannot progress without movement, as they are standing still. As this can mean big changes and the unknown of what may lie ahead. The idea of change can create fear and doubt, causing constant barriers of why not to move forward. Standing still in a situation you have become accustomed to, can be difficult to break through, as it is something that is very familiar to you. Anything that is unfamiliar can bring up unpleasant thoughts and emotions. Often worries about things going wrong. So it can seem much harder to move towards an idea, rather than moving away from the current experience. There is a sense of comfort in the familiar, even though you might no be completely satisfied.

So what does this mean and how can you break through such a situation and a way of thinking. Well from my experience with clients and even my own self, the ideas that seem so distant and seem so difficult, are actually very achievable once you start to explore and talk about these. What tends to happen is you get caught up in fear, anxiety and a sense of threat to the degree of comfort of what is known and experienced so far. The idea of something new can be both exciting and frightening. It can be so unnerving that you look for ways to sabotage your own goals and ideas. These are self created obstacles. Making excuses of why you cannot do something, using distractions as valid justifications, creating an ongoing cycle you created, reminding you of what is stopping you from achieving your goals and manifesting your desires. “I would like to spend more time with my kids, but I am too busy and tired with work”, “I would like to go and do some volunteer work but I’m not sure where to start so I tend to forget”, “I would like to travel more but I can't afford to”, “I have been so busy lately that I don't even have time to think”, “I want to meditate more but I'm constantly distracted at home”, “I would like to apply for that new role at work but I’m not sure if I'm skilled enough or will be good at it”. These are endless. And let me tell you, these are examples of a lot of your own self limiting beliefs. It means that you yourself had chosen to think in a way that would stop you from heading towards your goal, because deep down there is a voice that doubts your own self and motivations.

No one wants to fail. But in order for something to change, steps need to be taken for change to happen. The change itself makes a lot of people very nervous. Human nature works well with routines, comfort and a familiar way of thinking and being. If this is somehow threatened, the emotions will most certainly show you how you might be feeling about this. So even though you would like to get that new role and try something new, a part of you may be resistant as its is something different, getting you to think about this before taking action. This process of thinking can be fine in its self. It gets problematic if you think too much about it and get stuck, once fear kicks in. You start thinking that it is no longer a good idea and you continue with the same way of life. If your interests kept coming up again and again and you would talk yourself out of it again and again, then that can be a sign of resistance to your own voice and needs.

So how do you tackle this?

1. Well firstly notice your your thoughts and if they have been repetitive.
2. Then notice your feelings and what they have been telling you. It is very common for the feelings to be conflicting. For example feeling motivated and then apathetic, excited and anxious.
3. Notice the excuses that you tend to make that ultimately contribute to not achieving your goals.
4. How often do you blame others or even events that stop you from getting what you want?
5. After some self reflection, remember that you do have a choice and the direction of your life is based on the choices that you make.
6.Track your reasoning for these choices and where you are today. It is important to acknowledge and feel grateful for what you already have in your life.

Moving forward can be an addition or an adjustment to your current experience. Some of you might realise that you already have everything that makes you happy, and others might not. So, if you do feel incomplete, give voice to that and listen. To make changes means you may need to  face challenges and obstacles. You need to find the courage to face these and walk forward. Challenges are there for learning, the rewards are only received once the lesson has been learnt. So be brave, grow and follow your inner guidance!

Namaste.

Technology versus Humanity

Hi everyone!

I have come across a series of really fantastic interviews with all kinds of visionary people in our world and their views on technology and the future. View the video here:
http://www.aol.com/beyondthehorizon/519204258/

I particularly like an artist Marina Abramovic who is so connected to her own life purpose and identity. She explores human relationships, love, death and in some instances explores the human essence through eye contact. If you haven't seen her famous piece, you can watch it on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS0Tg0IjCp4.

And of course the other favourite person in this set of interviews, is Deepak Chopra and his ideas on life, universe, humanity and technology.

For me, watching and hearing inspiring people speak, particularly in this interview right now, brings up triggers for thought (and I mean an explosion of thoughts when it comes to our soul development. So lets focus on one). It is interesting to reflect on the role of technology versus humanity and our desire to grow as spiritual beings in today's age. It seems that the more we become fascinated with technology and its progression, we tend to disconnect from each other's physical presence. There is so much knowledge and inspiration available to us, particularly through social media, that is engaging, interesting and easy to access. However can come with a price. An example I can think of is commuting on the train/tram to work and watching most people take out their phones and looking at them until they arrive at the destination. It is a complete disengagement from the physical environment and rather an engagement with the virtual. So I am drawn to say that it is inspiring to see beautiful pictures on facebook, but its very different seeing them in real life. I think we have so much opportunity and access to knowledge for our self development, which is fantastic if it is balanced with action from that inspiration. When we are motivated to go and apply the knowledge we receive. For example when we are reminded to live in the present with gratitude, we are not just reading about it but we are able to pause in a moment, feel its meaning and say thank you for its presence. It is then there is balance of information and action. Balance of technology and spiritual development.

Elements and the energy field - Fire

The environmental elements of earth, air, fire, water and ether are our resources for wellbeing. These external resources feed our internal resources. The physical and energy body consists of all these 5 elements. So what does each element mean and how does it relate to our every day function? Well lets start with the Fire element….

Fire

In many traditions particularly ancient like Egyptian and Hindu, the Sun is worshiped as a God. This is for a good reason. It is the source of all life. Without the sun there is no life. It is a special frequency in the universe, which we are all connected to. It is an energetic vibration which sustains us. The universal light that brings strengths and joy.

The sun is a the centre of our solar system, therefore everything spins around it and is dependent on the nourishment it provides to the whole solar system and its inhabitants.

The fire element refers to a resource or energy that encourages us to be active in ourselves and in our environment.

It is the element of the 3rd Chakra - Manipura. This chakra is responsible for how we feel about ourselves and what we do with ourselves. The inner fire. The colour yellow. Often a the colour of a smily face! :) It is a very happy energy, which makes us feel good. So if you feeling depleted and lethargic, bring in some fire energy into your life!!!

So how can you get more of this energy? Going outside and simply being in the sun is an obvious thing to do, even if its for a few minutes, as it can give you an energetic boost. The sun is a powerful energy source. Like a battery, it can charge us up for the day. It gives us life force or prana, which allows us to feel alive. It stimulates our intellect, motivation and creativity. It is a positive light energy which warms our aura.
If for whatever reason there is no sun, perhaps its the gloom of winter, then you can visualise the sun and feel its rays on your body. It can be just as beneficial accessing it through the visualisation, as its simply a different connection with the element.

I like to directly ask the sun to nourish me with energy that I need, feel myself charging like the battery and then when its complete, thank the sun with gratitude for providing me with this energy.

You can also work with a flame by connecting to its fire energy. However I prefer the sun for general wellbeing, whereas the fire I find its better for specific healing methods. Whatever works for you, is totally fine.

So get to know the fire and Sun energy. Befriend it and allow it to shine within and see how it make you feel :)

The beginning to something...

Hi all,

Thank you for visiting my site and the blog. The idea for the blog is really to share some knowledge, information and things that inspire me. Mostly it is everything that relates to Life purpose, the Soul and the Universe. I mean how much deeper can it all get :).

Life and existence has always been a fascinating subject for me and I was always drawn to understanding why and how things happen in our lives and the universe. At the core of this interest was the desire to know what it means to exist and what it means to "heal". I thought that if I could understand human behaviour, I would know how to help people. Naturally it stemmed from my own experiences in life, but little did I expect it would bring me to the study of the universe and the core of our existence.

Every time I reflect back on how it all came to be, starting with the question "how can I help people?", to the realisation of how complex the root of each problem can be to the simplicity of Soul Truth. So after studying yoga, psychology, astrology, past lives, energy, metaphysics, karma, psychosomatic manifestations, and more and more....it all comes to Soul wisdom. So if you get know your Soul it will help you understand what is happening in your life and you life purpose. Simple huh! haha...well sort of.

It can be such an exciting journey getting to know who you are and what this life is about!!

Much love and light,
Katerina
